Piscataway Public Library proudly welcomes the return of award-winning poet Rachelle Parker to celebrate Juneteenth with fellow artists Ras Heru and Donyah Michelle Richardson Thurmond.
Rachelle, Ras, and Michelle will share their words, exploring how the descendants of slavery thrive with nimbleness and dignity. Their work disproves the notion of "not being enough" with every act of joy, and each decision to flourish, in spite of being challenged by the unrelenting effect of racism.
The program includes recitations from our three featured artists, followed by a brief question and answer period, and then an open mic session in which we invite the community to participate and share original or inspirational poems of survival and jubilation.
We hope to see you there!
